How our farm living began

 Good afternoon you guys!

As a kid, I never dreamed of having a farm or living off the land. Never did I ever believe my children would be excited to go outside every morning just to check for eggs. This farm living is something that Garrett and I happened into. Honestly.

We bought our home in February 2019 right before Logan was born and we were just so blessed that we had almost 2 acres to do with what we wanted. So we started jokingly talking throughout the year on getting goats. Which turned into "maybe we will add some chickens to." So I started researching and looking into the idea and in January of 2021 Garrett said well why don't you look for a buck. So that's just what I did, I joined a goat group on facebook and found our first goat that I just couldn't pass up even though our fencing had not been finished. We named him boots. While doing my research I knew he would need a friend, so I found Meg on facebook as well and we picked both of our goats up within a day of each other in January.

We spent the weekend that we picked them up finishing our first pen and pallet housing on the farm. Boots followed us around all weekend, while Meg was a little more standoffish. She did follow boots every where he went though.

Little did I know that I would get hooked on the "goat group" and I then found two more goats that "I just couldn't pass up." That's when we added Grace and Bella to our herd.

Next thing I knew my father-in-law brought us our first rooster, Ricky. He sure is a protector of our hen's and my husband is the only one that can handle him. So we decided well we have a rooster, now we mise well get him some hens. Which have turned out to be great layers. We knew nothing about goats and chicken care before any of this. Well, at least I didn't.
