Vacation Planning
Hey y'all good morning,
So I am just going to be honest. Next month in June will be our first long family vacation since before covid has happened and since we have started our farm. We took a weekend trip or two, but that was before all of the animals we now have on the farm. When I say that a farm is always a piece of work, it truly is. I feel like no matter what we do or how hard we work on it, there is and will always be something to fix, redo or something always getting out of them pen. I compare leaving our animals these days like when we leave our kids. I want the time away, but I hate leaving them.
We have someone who is going to be feeding and watering daily, but my anxiety about not being close by to solve any problems myself is nerve wrecking. While we have a camera that we can see thing's it is not a close up view but I am hoping to find a better camera before we go. I just want to actually be able to relax on our vacation and not be worried. I am also going to write out a detailed list with all of the information on it to help him out. So wish us luck on that end. Everyday on the farm I feel like lately especially something has happened whether it's as simple as a little chick getting out or the goats getting into trouble (goats always like to have attention some way or another.)
We also are adding 10 new naked neck hens to the farm this week. When we first got the naked necks, I thought they were the ugliest thing (they were given to us.) Once they got full grown, I really started to like them a little better and my husband loves them. So I bought him some more!
We will be going back to Gatlinburg, Tennessee which our two oldest kids went with us the first time and our littlest son has not ever been on a long drive with us. Our trip is 14 hours long, but we will be making it in two day's. So wish us luck, say a prayer for our animals while we are gone and I am praying hard that we all get this needed break and enjoy time with our kids.
Any advice or encouragement about vacation with a farm, let me know!!!
UPDATE :
So the guy we have that is going to be watching over our animals came out and I feel much better after my husband and I showed him how we do things. I'm so thankful there are good people who are always up for helping others. I will update again after our vacation!!!
